Introduction
This review is a custom built T61p system with the following features:

Purpose:
I bought this machine to replace the aging HP ZT3000. Although the old notebook has been super, I needed something more powerful, stronger and more lightweight. In addition, the display begins to show its age, a heating issues (resulting in the failure of several disks), the keyboard was busted, and the battery is dead.
Rationale:
Mainly I was looking for something that has a good value and solid construction quality (critical if you carry your laptop around places). The main systems I looked at XP 1530 were the systems from Dell, Sony SZ series, the HP dv6700 series, Macbooks, and of course Thinkpad T61s. These were ideal candidates because they had an overall quality (relatively few defects that have been reported and ability to withstand abuse), and not too expensive. All were about 6 pounds or less, but I had to immediately remove those with small display resolutions (Sony SZ, and Macbook dv6700). Going with the Thinkpad the legendary quality of construction, and after hearing display problems on the Dell LCDs, I decided to go with the T61.
Highlights:
Compared to the competition, I can note the following:
-- The machine runs very cool and quiet
-- Overall, the issue is very study because of its magnesium 360 pole
-- The hinges are second to none terms of sheer durability, and there are no screen wobble
-- The keyboard is very comfortable to type on
-- System performance is excellent, particularly with the Core 2 Duo processor, hard drive of 7200 rpm, 4 GB RAM, and high-end mobile graphics processors
-- Small form and reasonable weight (matched only by the MBP)
-- No dead pixels, the screen is crisp with a good viewing angle (LG screen)
