The ThinkVision L171p is an attractive display that offers all the features that professional users need, but despite a recent drop in prices, the cost is still higher than the average for a 17-inch screen. The setup is easy, although the package does not include everything you need. The L171p supports analog and digital inputs, but you must provide your own digital cable. The screen is lightweight (just under 12 pounds), but the foundation is stable, and it does not take too much space on the desktop. The L171p is also VESA-compliant, so you can add an arm or wall to save space on the desktop or gain adjustment options. The L171p has a native resolution 1280X1, 024, and the text appears and a black net, even in small font sizes. The images are clear and bright with good contrast and color fidelity appropriate. Images greyscale sometimes show a slight color cast. Overall, the picture quality will not meet the standards of graphics professionals, but the L171p was not designed for this market in mind. The 8-millisecond response time pixels can reduce the effects of blur and ghosting when viewing or editing video or playing fast-action games. The viewing angles are somewhat limited, and if you often review documents on the screen with a colleague, the L171p May is not the best choice. A row of corrugated buttons on the front panel allows easy access to all to take control and input options, although the icons are a bit cryptic.
